Why doing what I’m doing today

Relay for Life is today. For the most part of the day, minus interviewing someone and a few office items, my mind has been focused on the event - getting things together, answering parent questions, and blowing up balloons.
For all of this, I’ve realized one thing - I know nothing about decorating, but that’s another story for another time.
But today, I’m preparing to walk for a good bit of the time and have a good fun. For those who have never heard of Relay for Life it is an all day walk to raise money and awareness for cancer research. We all know someone who has died or is suffering from some form of cancer. Today, the memory of two people will be with me as I walk, one in particular - a family member who passed away last year.
My hope and prayer is that one day cancer will be eliminated. Until then, I’ll remember the courage of an 18-year-old girl who professed her love for Christ in her darkest moments and made an entire town come to know Him. I’ll remember my great-grandmother who would be proud of the man I’ve become. And I’ll remember the countless others whom I’ve come to know along my 27 years on this planet.
Maybe there is someone you know who has battled cancer? If so, consider a donation in honor of them and a hope for a cure.
But ultimately as Psalms 121:1-2 says, I life my eyes up to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of Heaven and Earth.
