Sunday afternoon a friend of mine and I headed to the theater to see The Simpson’s Movie. It was a hilarious filled 90-minutes that allowed for a great opportunity to relax and enjoy how Homer Simpson messes up and saves the day. We’ll leave any important story line details to your $7 ticket and $4 Dr Pepper.
But, there was one part in the movie that is worth commenting on, if for no other reason than an interesting comment Homer made about worshiping God.
As the beginning of the movie, the church service has already begun when through the windows you see the Simpsons arriving late. Marge quips about being late for church, while Homer complains. In his complaining, I found something quite interesting.
You see, Homer argues that he shouldn’t have to go to church that he should be allowed to worship God the way he so desires. Of course, the rest of the rant leaves one to question if Homer really got it that worshiping God was a personal interaction between you and God or if he was trying to get out of going to church so he could spend more time at Moe’s or watching television. Regardless, it was interesting to note that, if only for a few moments, Homer understood that faith is a personal relationship and worshiping God comes not only in the church setting, but in our daily lives as well.
Homer, though, eventually misses the point entirely.

Adam “PacMan” Jones had had enough of the NFL. Now, he’s going after the likes of Shark Boy, Abyss, and the Voodoo Kin Maffia.
Jones and his representatives have been in discussion with the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling about joining the sports entertainment company that is based in Nashville, home to the Titans, the team Jones is suspended from for the next year. Jones will likely not wrestle and his representatives are calling the venture a short-term program.
I’m guessing one year, just call it a hunch.
Professional athletes and professional wrestling is nothing new, especially coming from the world of professional football. Several current and former professional wrestlers made the jump to professional wrestling after starting their careers in the NFL, among them being Bill Goldberg, Ron Simmons, and Chief Wahoo McDaniel. During WrestleMania 2, the WWF (now known as WWE) hosted a battle royal featuring professional wrestlers and NFL players that was won by Andre The Giant and Lawrence Taylor at WrestleMania XI defeated Bam Bam Bigelow in a special match.
TNA has also made use of former Tennessee Titan Frank Wycheck during a previous pay-per-view. Chicago White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski and NASCAR commentator
Jeff Hammond.
