Sorry for the Delay

It’s been a few days since my last post, perhaps because things are kicking into high gear here with work and it’s getting a little difficult trying to figure out what day of the week, month, year it is.
September, right?
Just kidding on that part, but it is a little hectic here and of course my body took a nice time to shut down. Sickness never comes at the right time, I guess, but with several papers due over the course of the next few days and family coming in, being sick is not in the cards. I’ve been ill for about the past week. I just thought it was exhaustion from having so much going on and only 24 hours in a day to get it all accomplished. Turns out that I’ve got some sinus infection or some sort. But the cough syrup I’m on does wonder for a sleep deprived student. I believe I was out last night as soon as I hit the pillow.
Because I’m sick, things are going to be a little rushed here. The main reason for writing this little blog update is to get my mind thinking about writing, since I have a four page book review to do before 1 p.m. Tonight it’s a survey on the genealogical narrative in the Gospel of Matthew, and reading the book Politics of Jesus, for a term paper due next week.
But enough about sickness, allow me to share some thoughts on things of note in the world lately:
Last night, if you missed the debut of the new CBS drama Cane you missed one amazing show. The hype was well worth the opening episode. Jimmy Smits plays Alex Vega, the new president and CEO of the Duque family business, who has a protect the family at all cost attitude. Even if it means orchestrating a revenge murder as we see in the first episode. In other words, don’t cross this guy.
But the show had enough to keep you watching - family drama, corruption, murder, and rum, lots of rum.
I’m looking forward to the Bionic Woman tonight, another show that has been heavily hyped and will have to meet expectations early. Though I’m still impressed that people are shocked when I say I’ve never watched an episode of 24. I almost made someone fall out of their chair yesterday.
You have to enjoy those moments when you can find them.
