I Was Going to Write Something Cool…But the Music was Cooler than Cool

But I’m too tired. I just got in from a concert featuring Skillet, Barlow Girl, Newsong, and MercyMe. It was  … awesome. A great night of worship and great music.

I believe Skillet is my new favorite band. Think of their performance as Christian rock meets WWE with high pyros. It was awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

But, that wasn’t the best part. As a youth pastor, I was able to go backstage and hear the stories of John Cooper of Skillet, or Bart Milliard from MercyMe, and others. About their faith, their stories, and their hope for the churches represented at the concert. It was a great thrill to hear their stories.

Even better than that, I was able to participate in the altar call. My role was to hand out information cards to anyone who gave their life over to Christ in my certain section of Rupp Arena. At least 40 people came to me at my section wanting cards. I had to get extra cards … that’s how many people came. The organizers threw out a number of people who committed their life to Christ during the altar call. My hope and prayer is they realize today is just the first day of a long journey … a great journey. It was just amazing to see that many people come to my section. I was literally awe struck and moved by the Spirit.

I think that allowed me to worship more freely than I had ever before. I probably needed the release and just worship the Lord comfortably with other believers outside the Wilmore bubble.

So here are videos of two songs that were played during the concert. Enjoy!
