Six Weeks of Fun

These next six weeks should be interesting. And by interesting we mean jam packed with a lot going on and little time to finish everything that is on our plate.

Of course, we begin to hit the home stretch of the first year of seminary education tomorrow as classes and studies resume. It’s roughly six weeks until the end of the semester, so papers will become due, reading pace will increase, and papers will be written in a pace reminiscent of my days as a writer.

Then there is about six weeks (or a little more) before I leave for the summer. This summer, I’m working with an organization known as YouthWorks. This is a non-denominational Christian organization that schedules youth missions in cities and towns across the country that provide youth an opportunity to serve and grow in their faith. I participated in a trip last year as an adult leader with my church, but this year I will be working as a site director for the organization.

I’m excited, yet I’m also a little nervous. Part of my nerves centers on not knowing where I’m going to be this summer. I have a hunch I’m going to be in a large urban setting where I would be a fish out of the water. God has a funny way of doing that to me and I enjoy being a fish out of the water at times (hence living in Wilmore, Ky.) So, though I’d like to stay in the southeast, I almost half-heartedly expect a call to New York City. I should know before I leave for training next weekend (April 18-20).

Also in about six weeks, I go before my church’s SPRC to discuss my ministry plans and candidacy. I’m really excited about this opportunity and I can’t wait to go before this group. The last time, I wasn’t ready. This time, I feel ready and more confident in my words and my calling. So, the ride continues.

So, it’s going to be a fun six weeks. Top it off with wanting to do some things around the area with spring in full swing, it’s going to be interesting.

But, I love it when my life is like this. Usually, this is when I thrive.

So here I come … ready or not!
