One Very Long Weekend

So, I survived.

Four flights, lack of sleep, and being inundated with more information in 72 hours than an entire year of seminary, I survived training for YouthWorks this summer. It was a great weekend. I was able to meet some great people from across the country and be myself and learn about others. Also, I was able to learn about my area, my specific site, and some of the needs there.

I’m heading down to Bayou La Batre, Alabama for the summer. I’m really excited about this site and the community. It’s a rural community, which fits for me, that is close to a  city in Mobile, which fits for me as well. And it’s next to the Gulf of Mexico, which fits me as well. The community is still trying to rebuild from Hurricane Katrina, so we’ll be doing some housing work, and will be doing Kids Club, which I’ll explain more about later.

But it was a great weekend. I’ve learned more about myself and really thrilled about where God has me at right now. Yeah, it’s going to be hard to leave my friends, my family, and my church for the summer, but I really believe God has something special in store there for the summer. We’ll just see what happens for now.

In the mean time, today is all about catching up on homework, finishing a paper due in eight hours, and study for a test scheduled for Thursday. Ah, so much to do.
