Too Much on My Plate

Historically, I have a problem of taking on more than I can chew. I’ve had this problem for awhile now and it’s something that I wish I could do something about, because I really believe it has made me older than my young 28.

Right now, I have enough on my plate to give at least two or three people headaches. One of them alone would be enough to really give you a headache. Trying to find someone to take over my lease for the summer, finishing up a semester, getting ready to move to Alabama for the summer, trying to prepare myself for the summer professionally and physically, SPRC meetings, trying to figure out if I’m going to have to transfer schools, and if I will even have money to pay for next year. Add into that finishing up the semester with the youth group and prepare for my first sermon in two weeks.

I’ve not even had time to do laundry since I got back this weekend. Luckily, I have just enough clothes to get me through … today.

I’m stretched. Thin. Very thin.

I will admit when I’m stretched this thin it’s hard for me to focus because there are too many things going on at once. It’s hard to figure out what is important and what’s not important. I would like to think this is great training for ministry, but I’m not quite sure.

Regardless, I’m really frustrated and just ready to throw in the towel and get to the summer. Who knew going to the mission field for 10 weeks would actually be relaxing? No wonder I didn’t seem too worried about all the paperwork that I have to file on Fridays. That will be a break.

A break. I could use one right now. Maybe Saturday I can take the day off and just go to a movie or sit outside for awhile.

I doubt it.

  • Are you considering transferring?

  • If the bill passes, I think I would have choice but to transfer if I want money from the conference.

  • at least in the Oklahoma conference, they still send me money (not as much as if I went to a UM seminary), but they do help me out. Also, there is a FUM scholarship available, there is a first class posting with that info.

  • Yeah, I’m going to fill that out this weekend. My conference sends me money. My main concern is if the conference passes this bill and all the money goes away because we are Asbury and not Duke or Perkins or Fuller.

  • I guess I’m not for sure what you bill you are talking about. At the General conference level, the only thing that I have heard them discussing is taking the money that is in the 13 US seminaries and spreading that money out to the UM Seminaries across the world, but that shouldn’t affect us, but they only got a few thousands proposals for general conference, and I haven’t waded through them, but I guess it could be something at your conference level. Either way, don’t leave.

  • See, that’s the bill I heard. And the opinion that I received was that they were only going to put it towards UM schools.
