Summer in Alabama

Posted by Shannon on May 25, 2008

It’s almost game day!

This time tomorrow I will be somewhere flying between Cincinnati and Birmingham, Alabama. Don’t worry, I’m not as scared about flying this time. Just not looking forward to the 4 a.m., wake-up call to make my 6:50 a.m., flight. One of these days they’ll have cars that can fly. I hope. It would make life so much easier.

But, I return to the point of this post. Next week I’ll be spending a week in Birmingham training for what will be a very interesting summer as a site director for YouthWorks in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. I’m looking forward to what lies ahead these next 10 weeks. I hope they challenge me. I hope they rejuvenate me. I hope they also excite me more than I already am.

Sometime tomorrow, I’ll meet my staff most of whom I’ve spoken to at least twice already in the weeks leading up to tomorrow. Sometime tomorrow, I’ll crash at the thought of hours of information after getting up early. I guess that means no staying up late today watching the ending of the Coca-Cola 600.

With being in Alabama for the next 10 to 11 weeks, postings here will be limited. My hope is to post at least once a week to keep everyone updated as to what is going on, what we are doing, and how things are for me on a personal level. We’ll post pictures occasionally as well, especially if I get to head off on a shrimp boat at some point this summer.
